CURRENT CREATIONS LLC / LATE NIGHT LARRY
Meet the man, the myth, the legend.
Late Night Larry
I’ve been a carpenter my whole life. Somebody tells me what they see in their head, and I figure out how to build it. Now I go out to the sandbar, find a piece of driftwood, and build what I see.

LATE NIGHT LARRY / ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI
I grew up on the river.
My grandparents had a river house on the Gasconade. I fished the Missouri River with my dad, and I’ve spent plenty of time on the Mississippi. I still love to do a little fishing and spend a day on the sandbar. That’s where I fell in love with finding driftwood.
I love the lakes, too, but the river is a beast of its own. River life is hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it. I like the adventure and the risk. Sometimes my reward is a piece of wood I find on the sandbar and carry home.
I own a business now. I’ve spent years building what other people imagine. With these pieces, I get to follow my own imagination. I think people have gotten out of the habit of using theirs, and I’d like to bring some of that back. That’s what Current Creations means to me.
The Late Night Larry river legend
The man. The myth. The legend.
If you listen closely on most nights that end in Y, down by the river in St. Charles, you might hear Late Night Larry in action.
When the day winds down, Larry’s alter ego clocks in. A couple of beers, a little river air, and an eye for the strange shapes the Mississippi leaves behind. Somewhere in that driftwood, he sees a crooked grin, a wild-eyed face, or a creature nobody else has met yet.
Back at the workbench, the wood starts showing its personality. Out come the tools, the found objects, and the crazy ideas. A branch becomes a moustache. A twist becomes a nose. Something washed up on the riverbank becomes a sculpture you couldn’t dream up if you tried.
River legend has it that with every Busch Latte down the hatch, the ideas get a little wilder—and the pieces get a little more Larry.
